You can excel in your profession and still attain the highest (Enlightenment). They aren’t contradictory.

Have a vision, for yourself and a vision for society and hold on to it. It may be anything but keep it away from your profession, like writing a book, poetry, painting, singing, writing short stories. Be innovative in whatever way you can.

Stop asking for respect. Whatever profession you are doing, you respect yourself, and you will see how everybody else does that.

If you see through my eyes you will find that there are good people all over the planet in every profession. And even those whom we consider as not so good, I tell you, inside them there is goodness which is sleeping and wanting to be awakened.
